Photographing autumn foliage can pose several challenges.  Peak color timing, ideal wind conditions, and cloudy skies for even lighting are all elements that must coincide in order to create potential for epic fall photographs.  Fall in the Snake River Canyon provides a brief window of opportunity for an artist. The color and beauty are so vast, while the time to partake is so fleeting. These particular maples, when I found them, were still glowing with greens of late summer.  The foliage change had begun in the surrounding areas, so I knew that it wouldn’t be long until these followed suit.  Three days later I returned with my camera to find them ablaze with brilliant reds and oranges. I spent the afternoon wandering throughout the forested hills shooting a variety of different compositions in search of an image that would tell the story.  Hoping for one last viewing, I returned less than a week later to find only the trunks and branches remaining.  It’s here and it’s gone.  Don’t waste a minute.
