Established in 1872, Yellowstone is America’s first national park. Upper and Lower Yellowstone Falls in the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone are two of the most awe-inspiring natural features in the world. If you don’t mind a bit of a hike, you can walk down to the brink of the lower waterfall, conquer your fear of heights, and glance over the edge as millions of gallons of water plunge more than 300 feet to the canyon floor below. The deafening roar of the water and the sheer drop over the brink of the falls really showcase Mother Nature in her most powerful and majestic state. When conditions are perfect, the sun lights up the mist from the falls creating a beautiful rainbow to frame the canyon. The yellow hues of the canyon walls are where the park derives its name.
