Seeking Sakura
Seeking Sakura
Edition of 18
Bobby’s Recommended Presentation | Museum Mount (Floating) Presentation (As Shown in Installation Images) or Gallery Modern (Thin Black 3/8”W Frame) Presentation. Either suit this image perfectly with the Gallery Modern Presentation boosting the separation from the wall just slightly more than the Museum Mount.
Seeking Sakura is the product of perhaps the most fortuitous timing in my entire career capturing photographs. The full moon happened to coincide with an extremely fleeting (usually no more than three days) window of time when these flowers reach peak bloom, all on an evening without even the slightest hint of a breeze. A 50-second exposure beautifully captures the balance of the last lingering light of the sun and the light of the moon.
While "Sakura" is the name for the famed Japanese Cherry Blossoms, the cousins of the flowers depicted in this image, this piece is titled as a nod to the root meaning of the word - Saku meaning "bloom" and ra meaning "good, virtuous, and respectable."
Seeking Sakura is a celebration of the pursuit of our full potential and a reminder that time is precious. It's here and it's gone. Don't waste a minute.
